Bible Locations: Biblos - Biblos, the Greek word for book and the first word of the New Testament, is a root of "Bible" in English and many other languages, including "Bibel" in German and "Biblia" in Latin and Spanish. Our mission (1) Increase the visibility and accessibility of the Scriptures online. (2) Provide free access to Bible study tools in many languages.(3) Promote the Gospel of Christ through the learning, study and application of God's word. Biblos.com is a production of the Online Parallel Bible Project. This project is privately owned and supported for the express purpose of sharing Bible study tools online. Most of our work is done by volunteers with an interest in using their technological skills to this end. Please see our contact page for additional information. The Online Parallel Bible Project began in 2004 as Bible.cc, which provided a parallel, verse by verse view of 8 translations. Soon, many new tools were developed to support the parallel site. These began as separate sites, but our feedback led us to develop a single integrated platform. Thus, in 2007 several sites were integrated to form Biblos.com.

Saint Catherine Monastery - Saint Catherine Monastery has been one of the world’s great centers of religious pilgrimage for over fifteen centuries. Within its imposing walls rests a citadel like no other, incredibly rich in important religious and historical structures. Among its treasures is a library of ancient manuscripts and icons second only to the Vatican's itself, and a 6th century church reputed to lie directly on the site of the Burning Bush. Quite simply, the monastery is a defining feature of the Holy Land.

Tel Gezer Excavation - Tel Gezer guards the western entrance of Jerusalem from the coastal plain. Gezer was continuously occupied from the Bronze Age to the Hellenistic Period. It is one of three cities fortified by Solomon (1 Kings 9:16-17). Gezer is a 33 acre site. The ancient site was originally excavated in the early 20th century by Macalister. It was excavated again by an American team sponsored by Hebrew Union College under the direction of W.G. Dever and later by J. Seger. Although previous excavations have revealed much of Gezer’s history, there are still many unresolved problems. Since the last excavations in the 1960s and 70s, several issues and debates have arisen concerning the rise of the Israelite state in the Iron Age and Iron Age ceramic chronology.

Church of Megiddo - Our mission is to promote Holyland's most ancient Church, recently discovered in Armageddon (in Hebrew language- Megiddo) prison. Armageddon Church.com is intended to address the general public, offering a wide range of articles, interviews and updates. We hope you will enjoy the history, the symbolism, the meaning, and lighter sides of this amazing discovery.

Sepphoris - Excavation information on the town/city of Sepphoris located in Galilee, Israel.

Capernaum, The Town of Jesus - These pages aim at providing a short but reliable and up-to-date summary of nineteen seasons of excavations (1968-1986) conducted in Capharnaum by the late Fr. Virgilio C. Corbo ofm and Fr. Stanislao Loffereda ofm. These are the imposed limits of these Web Pages. We archaeologists are excavating the material remains of the past, but we are looking for something more. Our final goal is to meet again the past generations, to speak with them and let them speak to the present generations. "The archaeologist, as M. Wheeler used to say, is digging up not things, but people". When we keep in mind that Capharnaum was "the town of Jesus" and in some way the cradle of Christianity, we may soon realize that the unearthed remains are of a tremendous significance for mankind. If these pages help you to meet the inhabitants of ancient Capharnaum, many of whom you know already by their names, our goal is fully accomplished.

Jerusalem Archaeological Park -  The Temple Mount and the City of David have been the focus of archaeological research for some 170 years. During this time thousands of books and articles have been published, but almost no digital scientific information was available. The aim of this project was to assemble the scientific data and present it as a whole. The site exposes the visitor to recent archaeological and historical conclusions, which are the result of up-to-date excavations. According to the traditional understanding in archaeology, the results of diggings are presented in a constant format. To our believes, this kind of format is unsuitable for online publications. The digital format, as opposed to the written data, enabled us to paraphrase more accurately our views concerning various archaeological issues, sometimes with the help of special visual effects. Moreover, the assembling of so much data in one place, with easy linkage to historical sources, a glossary and bibliography, makes it an important production for all. The site presents a survey of the history and archaeology of Jerusalem throughout the Early Bronze Age until the Ottoman period. Its pivot is a dynamic time line, enhancing focal periods and events in the city's history. Internal links lead to complementary information, e.g., historical sources. A bibliography, arranged by periods and themes, is also available. The site holds a detailed description of a 3D virtual model of the Temple Mount. Unique features are the interactive maps, displaying the results of the ongoing excavations of the city from the 19th century. The site was produced by the Israel Antiquities Authority, initiated by Mr. Jacob Fisch and directed by Rachel Kudish-Vashdi and Yuval Baruch. It was developed and designed by EagleShade Interactive Production House. The IAA publications department scientifically and grammatically edited all the texts, which were also refereed by leading scholars.

Pictorial Library of Bible Lands - The Pictorial Library of Bible Lands includes pictures of the important biblical places. The pictures are easy to use, easy to locate, and of good quality. The collection contains more than 6,000 pictures.

Holy Land Photos - The purpose of HolyLandPhotos.org is to make images from the lands of the Bible available free to the general public. Our emphasis is upon the images. The text accompanying the image is meant to be helpful in identifying what one is looking at in the image and to comment briefly about the significance of the image, but the text is not intended to be exhaustive. The interested person should pursue avenues of interest in relevant dictionaries and encyclopedias. The site has been conceived, developed, and maintained on a volunteer basis by Dr. Carl Rasmussen and Jesse Gavin (see below). Carl Rasmussen provides all photos unless otherwise noted.

Online Bible Atlas - Readers of the Bible quickly recognize that the number of place names and locations mentioned in the text -- most of them unfamiliar -- is stupifying. The geographical references range eastward as far as India and westward to Spain. Between these limits, the Middle East itself contains numerous states, cities, villages, mountains, rivers ... many of the names have changed from century to century. Thus, in order to have a grasp of what is happening in a particular text, it is extremely helpful to have a set of maps, so that you can follow the narrative in your mind's eye. Online Bible Atlas includes most, if not all, of the higher resolution maps available online now. Most of them are in the public domain and can be freely copied for your own use.

Bible Map - BibleMap.org is developed by the duo at He Lives Ministries (HeLives.com). The motivation for developing the site was simple, create a free Bible atlas which harnesses Google maps. We hope this site will be a blessing to you and possibly help make the living book of the Bible more alive in your life.

Bible Mapper - Bible Mapper is a fully interactive, highly accurate Bible mapping system that helps you quickly and easily create customized maps of the Holy Lands or study a particular period and aspect of Bible history.
