International English Bible (IEB)

INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH BIBLE (IEB)

I'm writing a new easy-to-read English Bible translation called The International English Bible™ (IEB). You might ask, “Why write another English version of the Bible?” The reason is rather simple. Unfortunately, many of the English Bibles today are too wooden and difficult to understand, or they are loosely written paraphrases that are often not accurate to the original intent of the writers of the Bible. I'm not saying there aren't some good ones out there, but it's difficult to find one that has a good balance of accuracy and easy-reading.

My goal is to make available an English Bible that is written at a reading level for the common person and with a natural “flow.” The translation style of the IEB is dynamic equivalence. That is, the meaning of the Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament) is expressed in a "thought for thought" translation rather than "word for word."

The IEB adds clarity for understanding, demonstrates the accuracy of the original Bible languages, and can be easily translated into the world's languages. The IEB is written in everyday language. Along with many adults, youth, new Christians, and even those who speak English as a second language will find it as their Bible of choice.

The four Gospels of the IEB are now available as a download, and the rest of the New Testament will be released soon. Please use the feed back page to send your comments, corrections, and translation suggestions. Your thoughts are very welcomed and valued.
